Business Development Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a strong business development person who pro-actively seeks out new markets and opportunities to grow revenues within the specialty optical fiber market value chain. Working closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing and Product Management, you'll drive the process of setting an overall plan to identify growth opportunities that meet our strategic goals, sell the vision to senior management, and drive the deal to completion. This individual must be experienced in the identification of new market opportunities, and the development of business and product strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and research new market, application and technology opportunities within the specialty optical fiber value chain
  • Prepare market and competitive analysis with addressable market, segmentation by customer and by geographic region.
  • Develop strategies to build partnerships, business relationships and develop leads within these target markets.
  • Contact and develop potential partners within the target markets.
  • Assess these opportunities and their strategic fit, working with customers, sales, product management, R&D, and operations
  • Recommend the approach Verrillon should take (partner, develop, acquire)
  • Build and sell the internal business case
  • Develop and execute the project plan for those new opportunities.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with new and existing partners
  • Work closely with the Verrillon senior management team to maximize partner relationships
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and competitors strategies
  • Stay current on competitive landscape, competitors strategies, and industry trends and issues in the target areas
  • Participate in setting the overall Verrillon new market strategy, while providing input into strategy for existing products and development of new products
  • Coordinate with management team to participate in forums for knowledge acquisition and business development.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10+ years of Business Development and Partnership experience within the specialty optical fiber and cable market.
  • Strong Sales and Marketing background with demonstrated business development and revenue generation
  • Application knowledge in one or more of the markets to be penetrated (e.g. Oil & Gas, Optical Fiber Cable)
  • Sound business judgment and excellent negotiation skills
  • Works well in team environment
  • Entrepreneurial energy and ability to work well with key decision makers.
